Frostburg State student charged in shooting

One Frostburg State University student from the Washington area was shot and killed and another seriously wounded during a confrontation with another student early Sunday morning near the small college campus in western Maryland, police said.

The dispute apparently arose during an off-campus party late on Saturday night, when a student, identified as Tyrone Brent Hall, 21, of Glen Burnie, allegedly assaulted a woman at the party, police said. An ensuing fight broke up when other partygoers intervened.

Officials with the Combined County Criminal Investigation Unit in Allegany County said several people at the party later went to Hall's home on East College Avenue, across the street from the college campus.

"There was another confrontation, and then the suspect produced a 12-gauge shotgun," police said in a news release Sunday. "The suspect fired two rounds, striking both of the victims in the abdominal area. The suspect then fled back into his residence and remained there until law enforcement arrived and he was detained."

Police said they arrived at the scene shortly after 4 a.m. and found two victims, both Frostburg State students, suffering from gunshot wounds outside. Brendan Michael Carroll, 20, of Waldorf, was later pronounced dead at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Ellis Eugene Hartridge, Jr., of the District, went into surgery but is expected to survive. His family members told school officials that Hartridge is in stable condition.

Pfc. Daniel Dunn, of the Frostburg Police Department, said Sunday that there was no indication that any of the students who went to confront Hall were armed. Investigators found the shotgun believed to have been used in the incident and additional ammunition in Hall's residence.

Hall was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of assault. He is being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

The shootings stunned the Frostburg State community, which includes a total of 5,385 undergraduate and graduate students on a rural campus off of Interstate 68 near Cumberland, Md., about 2 ½ hours northwest of Washington.

"The thoughts and prayers of the entire University community are with the family and friends of both students," school officials said in a special announcement Sunday afternoon on the school's website.

The story now is that they all were at a party. The girl who messes with both dudes (The shooter and the 1 dude that got shot but is in stable condition) goes to the shooter and said dude assaulted her. The dudes confront each other and a fight starts. People at the party break up the fight. The shooter leaves and goes to his crib which is a block away. The one dude doesn't want to let it go thinking dude disrespected his girl so him and a friend (Teammate) and 1 other dude go to the shooters crib to confront him. Now I remind y'all its now 4am Sunday Morning.
They go confront the dude. he pulls out a 12 Gage and shoots bot dudes in the stomach. The one dude they say had nothing to do with it but was just following along. Dies.
So 3 lives and their families changed forever all over a Girl That Lied........

Frostburg Student Charged With Murder
A Frostburg State University student was charged with killing a school basketball player and wounding another.

It stemmed from an argument after an off-campus party early Sunday morning, police said. According to court documents, Tyrone Hall, 21, of Glen Burnie, Md., said he shot the two men in self-defense. Brandon Carroll, 20, of Waldorf, Md. was killed and Ellis Hartridge, 21, of southeast D.C. was hurt.

Hall told police he was dancing with a girl at a party when his ex-girlfriend came up and pushed them. That sparked a dispute, but Hall wound up leaving and going back to his off-campus home. He told police he was followed by Carroll and Hartridge and shot them with his 12-gauge shotgun, after they lunged at him.

Hartridge was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Carroll died from his injuries. He was a standout basketball player at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf. As team captain he led the team to the state championship in 2008. Dale Lamberth, Thomas Stone's basketball coach, said the community is devastated.

"Brandon didn't have an evil bone in his body, and if you were mad at him, you couldn't stay mad at him for long," Lamberth said. "Brandon was a hardworking student, but on the basketball court he really excelled. He was a very popular guy her on campus, very well known, and very well liked."

Hall, meanwhile, is charged with first-degree murder and assault. He is currently being held without bond.

Hall told police that Carroll and Hartridge were out front within five minutes and wanted Hall to come outside.

Hall told police that he loaded two shells into the 12-gauge shotgun he kept under his bed, then slung it over his shoulder and walked to the door, where Hartridge confronted him. Hall noted that the men confronting him didn't appear to be armed. But when Hartridge lunged at him, Hall told police he lowered the shotgun in Hartridge's direction and fired when he lunged again. Hall said that he fired at Carroll when he lunged at him.

The court documents indicated Hall said he was then contacted by telephone by Hartridge, who said he was in a relationship with Hall’s ex-girlfriend. Hall said Hartridge indicated he wanted to meet with him regarding the earlier incident.

Five minutes later, Hartridge had arrived at the residence with Carroll and another man, according to the court records.

“Mr. Hall noted that he was sitting on his bed and underneath the bed he keeps a 12-gauge shotgun. Mr. Hall noted that he loaded two shotgun shells into the shotgun and then slung the gun over his right shoulder. Mr. Hall then noted that he walked to the front door to his residence and stood there while Ellis (Hartridge) confronted him about the earlier argument.

Hall further stated that he didn’t notice any weapons in the possession of Hartridge or Carroll or the other man that accompanied them.

“Mr. Hall stated that Ellis lunged and swung his fist at him, but (another student) pushed them back. Mr. Hall then lowered the shotgun in the direction of Ellis, and when Ellis lunged at him the second time, Mr. Hall said that he fired the shotgun in the direction of Ellis. Ellis was struck with the shotgun blast in the left hip area. Mr. Hall noted that Brandon Carroll then lunged towards him and he turned and pointed the shotgun in the direction of Brandon and fired one shot,” according to the court documents.

right now the whole campus is against her. this school is in a small town 30 miles north of Morgantown West VA. Enrollment: lil over 5,000 so everybody knows everybody.
This was the 1st murder in that town in 8 years.
