Just got back from watching Clash of the Titans. Not a bad remake at all. I probably should've watched the 3-D version for the full effect.

I just watched this movie called Domino. It's about this female bounty hunter in California. Movie was tight. Good action, and production. Got a lot of movie stars in it too. I never heard of it but its worth watching if you got an HDTV.

Bounty Hunter Was Funny I pretty good movie.......

Kick Ass was ok, not really my thing w/ the whole comic book shit, I thought it was supposed to be a comedy joint but it was actually a real comic book type of movie w/ a small twist.... not really that great to me

Man i haven't seen a great new movie in a loooong time. Even the last 3 or 4 Oscar winners have been mediocre at best. I think The Departed might be the last great one I've seen. Doubt had great acting, but the story was a bit weak.

just saw The Losers and I liked it
good action, some of the acting was eeeh, but the movies was cool

it was like a knock-off A-Team type group but it worked

but there is another movie coming out called the Expendables.... STAR-STUDDED CAST

I have some hang ups with that movie...I remember sitting in there like, didn't he just get done fighting these same robots in iron man one? out the whole movie theres like 10 minutes of him being iron man.

^^??
He was in the suit for half the movie.

I like how RDJ advanced the Tony Starks role with his dialogue.

I saw Get Him To The Greek over the weekend. I enjoyed it. It was more entertaining than all out funny. It's this summer's The Hangover, just maybe not as funny. I did keep a smile on my face for the whole movie though. Diddy actually acted in this movie, opposed to just showing up. I don't wanna say this movie makes Russell Brand a star, because I don't know any other roles he could do besides this character. I want to see it on DVD so I can rewind some scenes of the movie. I feel like there was never a dull moment in the movie. The plot (somewhat) reminds me of Funny People, just substitute the satire for slapstick.

I give it :cool::cool::cool: (out of five)

4.house party about 5min
5.last fight about 7 min

so 15 minutes

Rented a few flix to watch over the weekend:

Date Night
Kick Ass
The Ghost Writer
Unthinkable
Brooklyn's Finest
Kick-Ass
Green Zone

So far I've watched Date Night, and I'm watching Unthinkable right now as I type. Date Night was funny. Steve Carrell (dude from the Office and the 40 Year Old Virgin) delivers once again!! Unthinkable stars Samuel L. Jackson. It appears to be one of those domestic terrorists - find the bomb flicks. It got good reviews so I'm hoping I'll enjoy it. I'll update on the other 4 movies over the weekend once I watch them.

I just set up netflix earlier this summer and it's been a wrap. I showed wifey how to use it and I have not seen my wii since.

Netflix signed a deal last week with Paramount and some other studio......Sept 1 they are going to like double the amount of movies they have already.

Saw Expendables yesterday....

It had its definite action movie moments...but I don't know, I think it could have had way more potential. I guess they blew the budget on the cast because some of the effects they used were cheesy...the same special effects they use in those straight to dvd movies...I wished a bigger studio had picked up the movie cuz it should have been on the level of a Bad Boys 2, Transformers shit...It pretty much is a Stallone/Statem flick...the rest of the cast is in it but play minor roles. Plot was very cliche'...cheesy, predictable.

But besides that, I can't lie, I enjoyed it enough to recommend it. It's just good to see fellas shooting up shit on screen......check it out, but maybe at matinee price...

I've had Legion at home from Netflix for like two weeks. I keep procrastinating on watching it because I've heard how wack it is. At the same time I feel stupid for still having it because if it's as terrible as everybody says it was that means I've had it for an extended amount of time when I could've had something else. I watched Waiting for Superman the other day. It didn't wow me like I was expecting. Then again, a lot of the information presented was already brought up in a similar documentary I watched called The Lottery. Matter of the fact, the older black guys they interview in this documentary (Geoffrey Canada) was also featured in The Lottery. I have two more education system based documentaries in my queue that should be arriving tomorrow called The First Year and I Am a Promise: Stanton Elementary.

B.G.
06-26-2011, 10:02 AM
I recommend I Am a Promise: The Children of Stanton Elementary School, especially to anyone born between the years 1980 - 1985. It profiles an inner-city elementary school in North Philadelphia. This documentary was filmed in 1993, so the children featured are our age now. It really shows how societal problems and the home environments these kids live in have the greatest effect on their educational potential. Parents are quick to blame the schools for not doing its job, but it's really the parents failing to do theirs.

The First Year was decent too. It follows a group of teachers in their first year at various inner-city schools in Los Angeles.

If you're a Netflix instant streaming subscriber and like urban films, I highly recommend the movie Shot. It's about a photographer who befriends a young boy in South Central LA, then gets mixed up with some gangbangers who invited him along to take pictures one day. It came out around 2001.

Oh boy that played young Roland on The Wood is in it (I don't remember his real name off hand). Most of the urban films on Netflix are corny with bad acting and stuff, but this one is pretty decent.

Friends With Benefits was like the caucasian version of Hitch, it was just okay..
Bridesmaids, not funny..
Closing Escrow amusing..
Transformers 3, weak in comparison to its predecessor.
30 Minutes or Less, if it wan't for Aziz this movie wouldn't be bearable

I'm glad I didn't get green lantern.

I thought bridesmaids was funny just not as funny as people made it out to be.

I thought friends with benefits was good too. Probably because I like Mila Kunis.

i cant really give my movie reviews because I'm gonna say everything was aight. I can't remember the last VERY GOOD movie i saw, and I can't remember the last BAD movie I've seen. Everything was straight for the most part LOL

If it has a plot, sticks to it, and the acting is decent, I can watch it. My main complaint about movies I DON'T like is the lack of story.

I watched Big Mommas on Cinemax yesterday. It was pretty predictable and for the most part sucked, but it was bearable.

That's the main thing I look for in any movie nowadays, regardless of the genre.

it doesn't even have to be a good story with me LOL...just a story PERIOD.

Like one movie i didnt really like was "death at a funeral". Beyond it being kinda dumb (which is fine, I'll watch a dumb movie ALL day long)...it had NO story whatsoever. Even a dumb story would've sufficed. Hell, I watch those Harold and Kumar movies like its the greatest thing on earth so I didnt need a Schindler's list. But literally NOTHING happened in that flick

I still need to see the Harold and Kumar Christmas flick. I thought the first two were hilarious, but I haven't heard anything aout the new one which leads me to believe it wasn't funny.

I think people are waiting for it to hit HBO where they will show it daily like the other 2 LOL

Devi's Double is by far the best movie i've seen in quite some time. It may have been special to me because i admire psychopaths but from somone with a security background who operates out of the Middle East I LOVE IT!!!. I suggest everyone go to Redbox and pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

Watched Crazy Stupid Love on HBO the other night. It was pretty good. Kinda chickflickish, but it was funny.

I agree. Every movie needs a story. And the story itself determines how good the movie will be in most cases. The general consensus is that comedies just need to be funny, but they need good stories too. The audience has to get a sense that the characters are trying to achieve something, and the comedy is suppose to supplement the journey, not replace it.

That's why I feel the Harold and Kumar and Hangover movies work so well. They're hilarious as hell, but you also want to see the characters reach their respective goals, i.e. find their lost friend (Hangover), escape from Guantanamo Bay (Harold and Kumar), or pay Big Worm his money by 10PM (Friday).
