Why can't this dude get any respect? Geeeez. Trade him already.

Campbell found out about McNabb trade from reporter
By Doug Farrar

Generally speaking, players would prefer to learn about trades that affect them from their actual team — that way, the team can do whatever damage control is necessary and assure the player in question that he's still a crucial part of their plans. The truth may be altogether different, but damage control isn't always about the truth.
What current (soon-to-be-former?) Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell(notes) now knows is that his team didn't think enough of him to let him know when they dropped the hammer on the Donovan McNabb(notes) trade. Campbell, who's been Washington's primary quarterback since 2007, found out about the trade when he got a phone call from John Keim of the Washington Examiner just after the deal was consummated.
Me: Did you hear about what happened?
Jason: What?
Me: The Redskins traded for Donovan.
Jason: Really? Ummm ... I didn't know that, man.
Me: I'm sorry I had to be the one who told you. I can't believe they didn't tell you.
Jason: No, that's the first I heard of it. ... I'd better go call my agent.
When I called back later, it went to voice mail. His mailbox was full.
Campbell has a first-round tender on his head that he hasn't signed, and that the Redskins will most likely rescind. According to ESPN 980, several teams are interested in Campbell's services — the Bills, Raiders, Panthers and Jaguars (plus an "unknown team") are reportedly in line to make offers.
Though his performance in Washington was far from elite, it's also fair to say that Campbell never got a fair shot. He dealt with different offensive coordinators and a declining offense as the Dan Snyder/Vinny Cerrato "brain trust" mowed the offense down with a series of questionable moves. A new start would be best for all involved, and Campbell will most likely get it.
At this point, he's probably just hoping that when he is traded, he won't have to hear about it first from a reporter.

Man I was arguing with somebody today about the Redskins.....a team I don't even like. Dude said that My beloved Eagles was dirtball for letting McNabb go the way that we did. I was like DUDE, only two other teams wanted McNabb Buffalo and the Raiders. McNabb said that if he was traded to those other teams he would retire. He wanted to go where he had a chance at winning. So the Eagles set him up in an ideal situation. They sent him to a team that looked liked they were trying to put the pieces together. We sent him to a division foe all because we wanted to set him up nice as he left the organization. The Skins are the dirtballs, they didn't even tell their QB what was going down......he found out from a reporter.

McNabb will only help the Skins marginally, he is not the same QB we had all these years...I wish him the best and pray that he does not get his skull crushed behind that O-Line.

Yeah, they better get him some help on that O-line or we're gonna see his numbers drastically decrease. I think he might be able to make Cooley a star, especially since the Skins' WR corp is average.

DeSean Jackson: It's a relief

Monday, April 5, 2010

DeSean Jackson didn't exactly say it was "about time" the Eagles made the move to trade Donovan McNabb, but he did come close and he did emphasize how the last few months of rumors involving the Eagles quarterbacks had affected the rest of the team.

"My first thought was -- not to say, "About time" -- but just sitting around with just the rumors ... it was just kind of tough for the team," Jackson said. "Not knowing who was going to be here and who was going to stay. It's almost kind of a relief to know what we have here and just to go forward."

There was a perception out there that Jackson led the brigade of younger players looking to move on from McNabb and have Kolb as their leader.

"I don't know why anybody would think that," Jackson said. "Whatever the case was, if McNabb would have stayed another year ... that's not my decision."

The Eagles have had a lot of turnover this off-season, mostly discarding older players for younger ones. Guard Todd Herremans said that he thought the team now had a certain swagger about it. Jackson reiterated that sentiment.

"I see us as the young guns, coming in and taking advantage of a lot of geat opportunities in Philadelphia," Jackson said. "We're here for the long haul."

Jackson, Herremans, tight end Brent Celek and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin said that they didn't think the younger Eagles would have to naturally take a step back next season. Jackson said that the young core group of offensive players would be "able to relate to each other" more under Kolb.

Several of the players interviewed, including Kolb, said that they were surprised the Eagles traded McNabb to the Redskins.

"It definitely did catch me off guard," Jackson said.

Earlier, Michael Vick said that he would accept being Kolb's backup. He reiterated that he wants to start, but said that he would be a good soldier and help Kolb with his development.

Sources: Big Ben to be suspended for 4-6 games

Updated Apr 21, 2010 12:14 PM ET
While the league's decision is not yet official, the NFL is prepared to send a message to Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers quarterback will be suspended for 4-6 games due to a violation of the league's personal conduct policy, league sources told FOXSports.com.

The punishment will essentially be a conditional suspension, based both on any new information that arises surrounding Roethlisberger and also his behavior moving forward after speaking to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week in New York.

The suspension comes in the wake of accusations by a 20-year-old college student that the two-time Super Bowl champion sexually assaulted her in the bathroom of a Milledgeville, Ga. nightclub on March 5.

After a month-long investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, prosecutors announced April 12 that Roethlisberger, who maintained his innocence throughout, would not be charged in the case due to a lack of probable cause. Documents detailing the investigation were released shortly after the announcement.

In her statement to police, the accuser said Roethlisberger encouraged her and her friends to take shots of alcohol throughout the evening. One of Roethlisberger’s bodyguards then escorted the woman into a hallway at the Capital City nightclub where he sat her on a stool and left. She said in the statement that Roethlisberger followed her down the hallway where he exposed himself.

Roethlisberger followed the woman into a bathroom in the bar, according to the documents, where she says he had sex with her against her will.

Friends of the accuser told police they pleaded with Roethlisberger’s two bodyguards to let them see their friend because she was drunk and they were worried about her. Roethlisberger’s bodyguards, both police officers who were off duty at the time, told investigators that they "have no memory" of meeting Roethlisberger’s accuser, and said they witnessed no criminal activity.

FOX SPORTS POLL
What's your opinion of the NFL's suspension of Ben Roethlisberger? Too tough Not tough enough Just right After the accuser emerged from the bar and told her friends about the encounter, the women left. The accuser’s friend, Ann Marie Lubatti “walked up to the first cop car we saw and told them what happened,” she said in a statement.

That cop was Sgt. Jerry Blash, who resigned from the department on April 16. Blash, the lone officer who interviewed Roethlisberger immediately following the incident, made profane comments about the accuser, according to police documents. Blash was photographed with the quarterback earlier in the evening.

Roethlisberger is still named in a Nevada civil suit alleging that he sexually assaulted a hotel employee in Lake Tahoe. Criminal charges were not filed in connection with that case.

Do you think the Browns will pick him up for their 1st rounder?Thats their best option if they want to stay competitive and also it would give Ben some type of redemption IF he could beat Pittsburgh.. sounds logical but remember Holmgren is their big Exec now

Steelers wont trade him to a rival (Browns) unless they offer a nice package deal.

Just like Philly with Was...I doubt the Steelers are scared of trading Ben to the Browns if they're going to get a Top 10 pick...

Philly did a good job in the draft.

Campbell to the Raiders. I guess it was only a matter of time once number 5 got to town. I actually hope that he can do something worthwhile in Oaktown.

I'm not really sure I understand why the Skins want to sign Westbrook. I can see why he would want to play there, but they already have 3 other old RB's. Who do you think they'll release if he signs? Probably Willie Parker.

All 4 won't make it through TC, I say whichever one gets hurt first (bound to happen) gets the axe.
