Good move for both. Now they will crossover and dominate both markets....street and mainstream
Dont like Minaj at all....complete garbage...but she has a good team behind her and i think this was a good move for her career....diddy will know exactly how to mold her
Ross will probably start to appeal to the "hollywood" crowd?

her image will sell....she has a good following....she very popular with the teenage crowd....she has a good team like I said....unless you have been living under a rock, skills dont sell anymore...unfortunately
Why do people keep saying she can't rap?? Although I hate this whole 'rappers on simile strike' these spittas have been doing since Weezy's rise...

i think she has skills, just not a big fan of her overall style but for a female I think she pretty good. It just don't necessarily appeal to what I wanna hear

shes on a lot of shit
but to be real shes just filling a void. Baby jumped on the opportunity filling void of no female rap artist in the game.
and she doesn't write her own lyrics

yea and if she was still rapping the same "real" shit today, she would be standing in front of the same carry out and behind the same fence on a baseball field
Keep it real all you want, from a business standpoint, this would be an epic fail
I hate the gimmick like the next man...and I won't hold back and say they are garbage...but I understand why people change and do the things they do....

man i just hate to see the game like this. its all about entertainment now which don't bother me but what does bother me is so many people cosign
that as real hip hop.
Example:
I never met you Q but I know how you roll so that would be like you signing to Young Money and them telling you to get a mohawk and start rockin skinny jeans
and change your whole lyrical flow.
I don't even recognize Jae Millz anymore since he signed with Young Money

There are just as many "real" rappers as WWE rappers. You just have to dig a little deeper to find them because they aren't getting played on the radio.
I don't co-sign anything. I just don't listen. There is plenty of good rap out. Seek and you shall find
Don't blame the shitty rappers. Blame the labels that sign them.
Do you remember the movie "Brown Sugar"? When Taye Diggs was trying to get Mos Def's character signed but the 2 corny dudes dressed like dalmations got signed? There is part in that movie where the exec tells Taye Diggs, people dont want to hear that stuff, it's a business and we have to sell records and make money.

yes, and rap has changed so the labels change. We went from gangster rap, to shiny suits, to southern bounce to club music....every era had shitty rappers
vanilla ice, hammer, young mc, tone loc, kriss kross, wrecks in effect, 69 boyz, joe ski love etc....
As the demand changes, so do the artists.
A guy at work told me his grandma was into the 50's/60's sound...as the 70's rolled around with artist like Marvin Gaye, she said "what is this garbage?"
Are you seriously mad because nobody is listening to your favorite artist? lol
Dre you hit it on the head with...

You are a small percentage of that pool. Women and children make up most of that base. You will see more dudes at a concert then at the record store.

There was just as much garbage back then....you were just to young to understand what was going on. The same NWA/Ice-T "gangsta rap" that you loved was being called garbage by a 27 year old who grew up to Melly Mel/Kurtis Blow
Don't listen...that's all I can tell you. Pop in your old CD's or find artists who are making that "real" rap.

Where did I say it was garbage? I said to a 27 year old (in 1991) who grew up listening to Melly Mel and them, that new gangsta style of rap was wack to them the same way Nikki Minaj is wack to you. It's not your generation. Lil Wayne is the Nas of this generation. TI is their jayz....young jeezy is their Ice-T...etc....
I never mentioned Ice Cube and I never mentioned anything about what is or is not real. Irrelevant in this conversation.
You are trying to drill it into peoples head that the music they are listening to is garbage. Fine feel that way....but thats normal when you get older.

Yep..It was hard at first but I've accepted the fact I'm gettin older and the music I used to like aint relevant anymore.. I'm 34 so I remember all the way back listening to Rappers's Delight on the radio and up until the "Ringtone Era" everything was fine.As far as today's Hiphop..If the kids like it..it will do fine and Young Money is what the Kids like.

Its shocking to me how most people who complain about the state of music don't see that they are turning into their parents.
Everybody's parents complained about the music they listened to. The kids today are going to complain about the music of 2030 and reminisce about how great the music was in 2010. Its the way of the world.
