Have any of yall caught the new series on HBO called Treme, and if so what do you think so far?

I've been watching it, I think it has potential to be a good show, but only great to those who live in the New Orleans area. It is from the same producer who did The Wire, but I think there is too much regional dialect and customs that those not familiar with the NO won't get or appreciate. With The Wire, I think it was more of a central theme, that people in communities across the county could relate to...drug infested neighborhoods, bad school systems, shady politicians and police. If you weren't in or near New Orleans during Katrina, or are from the area, it's hard to relate.

I think they are trying too hard to infuse the music of the NO into the show also. The storylines are scattered, but the acting is great.

i only seen the 1st episode so far and I agree I think the producers are trying too hard to incorporate NO's music history into the show.
Wasn't feelin the 1st EP

I wasn't blown away by the 1st episode. The 2nd and 3rd are better. I guess I had extremely high expectations because of The Wire. I think it will be a good series but not great.

i was conflicted too at first, but im glad i stayed with it. im learning alot about the history of NO music - alot of which would have been lost, or only been carried by Baby and Wayne, had Treme not inspired me to do my research.

I went to NO in 2004 pre-Katrina... Mish took me to a REALLLL NO cuisine spot which was great - marvelous city.

I definitely want to go visit New Orleans one day. I love my food, and I love the whole NO/Creole cuisine. I want to go to a real crawfish boil where they toss the the crawfish out on a big ass picnic table and everyone sits with a beer and goes to work.

lol @anti....I guarantee the rap angle is coming during a future episode.

Clarke Peters is doing a hell of a job acting though. His acting in this is better than the wire. Even ol' bunk doing a good job too. I still don't get the angle with the ol' finding forrester ass nigga though. He has no love for the NO, even though he's a musician from there. They need to flesh his story out a little more.

And why does the white dude have that same dumb ass look on his face in every movie he plays in....like he smells shit everytime he has to talk.

John Goodman is doing come awesome acting also.
